Monday Soup

1 part broth, 1 part noodles, and 3 parts egg white…it’s Monday Soup on a Tuesday!

+ Today is my first work day being self-employed! Lots of folks have asked me how I was going to spend my first day. Will I drive into work, chuckle, and then drive home? Will I hang out in my underwear and watch TV all day? Will I sleep in and take a really long lunch? Probably none of the above.

It’s going to take me some time to find my groove working from for sure, but the last thing I’m going to do is ease into it. This morning I was up at 5:45am to get a jumpstart on the day before the kids woke up for school. Now that I’m here, it’s go time. If my business doesn’t grow it’s back to the cubicle for me, so the hustle continues.

+ Have had over 500 views of my video from last weekthanks for checking it out and for all the kind words. Four footnotes I want to add to it:

1. I did not mention my wife Erica nearly enough in it. Her role in this journey has been huge. She’s my biggest fan and supporter and has always stood beside me on this dream that I’ve had. She’s believed for me in times where I lost hope, and she’s made changes in her life to make this a reality. Wish I would have snuck that in there a little more. (and no, she did not ask me to say that.)

2. Some folks have told me that they don’t agree with everything in the Circle Maker book. My response: I probably don’t either! It baffles me how people will refuse to read a book if they think it is going to clash with something they believe in. Read it anyway. Discern what you want to take from it and what you don’t. Every book I read will have things I don’t agree with, and half the time I’m probably the one in the wrong.

3. My story was just that: my story. I don’t believe there’s a magic prayer formula that always works. I don’t believe God is a genie in a bottle that grants your wishes so long as you pray hard enough. I do believe that God hears us and answers us, and I do believe that he responds to faith (Hebrews 11:6).

4. I am blown away at how many people have been encouraged by my story. My hope is not that everyone gets exactly what they are praying for. My hope is that folks are inspired to pray more, pray harder, and to trust God with their dreams. I hope their faith increases every day as they put their trust in God. Some folks will see amazing breakthroughs that align with their dreams, others may get answers they weren’t hoping for. But in the end, if we’re giving our dreams to God I believe we will be better off for it.

+ Completely switching subjects to the NFL, football starts tomorrow night!  You’ve got today and tomorrow to join our NFL Pick’Em league and then it’s closed. There are 15 people in it so far. $20 to join, there will be monthly winners as well as end of the season. We pick games against the spread, which makes it super challenging, but lots of fun. If you’ve never done it, give it a shot. Email me bryanallain-gmail-com and I’ll send you the details. Don’t be scared, I won’t embarrass you too much with my knowledge.

+ Tripp and Tyler are doing a live show tomorrow night at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA. If you live in the area, you better be there!
