This post went live at 7:45am, which is right when I was born on September 28, 1976.
Like many of you, I’m not a big birthday guy. Most likely no one at work today will know it’s my birthday, and that’s the way I like it. Erica and the kids will make a big deal about it (which I love), I’ll get a few cards in the mail, I’ll get a whole bunch of comments here at the blog and on Facebook, I’ll have a nice dinner date tonight with my wife, and then I’ll go to bed as a 34-year old for the first of 365 nights.
Speaking of my birthday, we’ve been trying to raise money for clean water in the Central African Republic this month, and so far we’ve raised $10,156 which will provide water for 507 people! There’s nothing I’d love more for my birthday than for you all to give $5 to the cause, so here’s what I’m going to do.
For everyone who gives at least $5 today to our Charity: water #30Water fund, you will be entered in a drawing to win a box of goodness sent in the mail from me to you.
What will be in this box of goodness? For starters, I will print out a chapter from my unfinished, unpublished memoir and autograph it and include it in the box. Will it be worth money? Of course not. But it will include one of the most embarrassing stories from my youth, something I’ve been too embarrassed to even put on the blog to this point. Trust me, it will be worth your $5 and the 5 minutes it takes you to give.
What else will be in the box of goodness? I have no idea, but I can assure you that you’ll enjoy going through it. If you like the randomness of my blog, you’ll love the randomness of the box of goodness.
