I just heard today that my boy Donald Miller accepted an invitation to give the invocation at the Democratic National Convention on Monday!
Whatever your party affiliation, you’ve got to admit it’s a pretty cool honor.
I sent him my congrats, and found out it should go down between 10:30pm and 11:00pm EST time (between 8:30 and 9 in live in Denver). Pretty sure CNN is covering the thing from 6pm to Midnight every night, so set your DVRs to record.
When asked about his prayer this morning, Don had this to say:
I’ve not written the prayer yet, but I really wanted to hone in on the theme of unity, even unity between Republicans and Democrats. In the convention, as we highlight our differences that we wouldn’t forget that we’re unified, we have more in common than we don’t. That’s the focus of the prayer.
Personally, I think he should just wing it. That would be fun, wouldn’t it? I’m sure Barry wouldn’t mind.
You can read more of Don’s thought on why he’s a democrat, and why he’ll probably vote for Obama here.
I have no idea who I’m voting for, but I’m pretty excited for Don!
Update: I dont think the prayer will be televised, but apparently it will be available online at some point.
