red tea, missions, and Seacrest

time for some stream of consciousness posting because i’d rather just type than think at this point. feel free to throw tomatoes in the comments section.

…so, i’ve been drinking a lot of tea lately. i think tea drinking is great for your health. I’m no scientist, and I didn’t sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I did sleep in my own bed, which is very comfortable. But yeah, my favorite tea right now is “Moroccan Pomegranate Red” by Celestial Seasonings. It’s a Rooibos tea (red tea) and it tastes great. perfect blend of sweet and tart. Drinking tea is great, especially in the evening, because it helps fill up your stomach with something other than half a box of cheez-its, which I’ve been known to do. Although my favorite snack is still sharp cheddar cheese and Roasted Garlic Triscuits, when you eat them with a cup of tea, you won’t eat as much.

…I was voted in as deacon at church on Sunday, and I’m excited about serving on the team. Speaking of teams, Parker’s Tee-Ball team is called the RiverCats, and I think their favorite part of the entire practice is right at the end when we all put our hands in and ‘yell’ “1-2-3 RIVERCATS!”. Seriously, They love that. Though I’m still not sure what a rivercat is exactly. I thought cats hated water, especially water that runs rapidly in one direction. I’m not a big fan of cats myself. And I’m not a fan of water either. I mean, i like to drink it and all, but I’ve never been a huge swimmer. (don’t even get me going on swimming when jellyfish are involved) So it’s funny that I’m coaching the Rivercats. Maybe I’d be even more into it if our name was the CheeseItLovers? We could get the kids to say “1-2-3 CHEEZ-ITS!” or we could end the cheer each week with a different type of cheese, perhaps. “1-2-3 HARVATI!” or “1-2-3 PEPPERJACK!” The kids would probably like that too, they’re only 5 you know, it doesn’t take much.

I think Erica and I will watch “Idol Gives Back” tonight, there’s supposed to be a lot of cameos and good performances. Ryan Seacrest is a beast. I read online that he works ridiculous hours every week and that he is setting himself up to run half the world at some point. I think he owns Dick Clark. The sexual jokes between him and Cowell get to me sometimes, they are just a little too into it. Not that they are into each other, I don’t think that. I just think that Simon is probably a dirty man with the way he ogles female contestants and makes remarks about them. Not judging him or anything, that’s his right i suppose, just saying…in other news, I picked up “Wide Open Spaces” by Jim Palmer the other day. I’ve read a lot of good things about it. I’ll also be reading “Sex, Sushi, and Salvation” by Christian George soon. I just finished 3 books last weekend that I’ll be blogging about soon…

…guess that’s it for right now. Got my first meeting tonight as a deacon serving on the Missions Team, so that will be fun. I’m honored to be a part of what God is doing around the world, and I want to help the people of our church play as big a role as possible.
