I’ve got to admit something: I’m getting progressively worse and worse at responding to email these days.
It’s not because I don’t care about email. Believe me, I do. In fact, I swore that I would never be the person who didn’t respond to most emails right away because I hate when people don’t get back to me.
But it’s happened anyway. Chalk it up to getting more email, being busier, and whatever other good excuses you can think of.
I’ve read all about “Inbox Zero”. I’m familiar with to “Do it, Delegate it, Delete it” method. I’ve tried different tricks & tactics through the years to stay on top of it with varied success.
And to be honest, I’m not terrible. Some folks have hundreds of unread emails in the queue and a bunch more they want to respond to. I read them all when they come in, and usually get responses back to folks in a week or two. It’s not ideal, but it’s not awful.
What about you?
Do you stay on top of your inbox, are you always frustrated by being behind with it, or do you not care if they pile up?
Got any tips, tricks, or thoughts about email management?
