1 part chowder, 1 part clams, 1 part oyster crackers, plus all this stuff swimming in my head.

+ My kids start school today! 3rd grade and 5th grade, which is frightening because it means next year at this time my daughter will be going into that black hole also known as Junior High. Having kids in grade school feels okay, because I can keep lying to myself and pretend like I’m still 29. Having a kid in middle school? The jig is up.

+ Irene showed up Saturday afternoon for us and stuck around for about 24 hours. I was just about to go to bed at midnight on Saturday when the storm was at its worst, and then I noticed water pooling in our basement window wells and slowly leaking onto the sills.
So instead of sleeping up in bed, I slept in the basement.
But first, I was outside until 1:30am bailing water from the window wells.
Then slept for 2.5 hours, woke up, and did it all again.
Slept about 5 hours total, but the basement stayed dry so it was worth it.
+ iTunes for iOS has changed the way you stream podcasts on your iPhone. In a word, the new changes suck. Before you could tap the episode of the podcast and it would open up a Quicktime window that let you jump around in the podcast. It would also let you multi-task and pause the episode so you could come back and pick up where you left off. Now? You can’t do any of that. There is no Quicktime window, all you can do it start and stop the podcast, and it doesn’t remember where you left off.
The fix? I’ve been using the Pocket Casts App. Does everything iTunes used to do and more. Like the fact that you can select your favorite podcasts and let the App collect the new episodes instead of you going out and finding them. Also lets you pause episodes without losing your place.
Not sure why Apple screwed up a good thing, but for $2 I like what I have now even better.
