1 Part Broth, 1 Part Noodles, and whatever else is floating around in my head.

+ Drove over 650 miles this weekend dropping my kids off at my parents’ house in Massachusetts for the week. Took us 7 hours to get there on Saturday because of heavy traffic and only took me 5 hours to get back on Sunday morning. Amazing what a difference 2 hours makes on your sanity.
+ I’ve got a big announcement coming soon with regards to BlogRocket. Some of you already know what’s going on, but I’ll share it with the rest of the world next week.
+ We had some great family pics taken a few weeks ago by Katy Geesaman. This was not one of them. No one told me that the goal of the family jump picture is to jump off the ground a little bit while maintaining a smile. Instead I tried to break the vertical jump record and wound up looking like I was on a roller coaster.
+ Speaking at Gap Community Church in 2 weeks, which is right down the road from us. Slightly nervous about it for two reasons: 1) I know a bunch of people that go there, and 2) I think they’re expecting me to make them laugh. Gonna need to set the expectations up front that there’s a different between a humor writer and a comedian.
+ Jon Acuff is speaking at the Purple Door Festival here in PA on Friday, so I’ll probably head up there and hang a bit. I’ve been to Purple Door a few times…not sure how well his material will go over with that crowd. I’m sure he’ll kill it but like I told him, he might want to not use the Deep V-Neck Syndrome bit. That makes a bunch of 40 year old pastors and church staffers laugh, but a bunch of 17 year olds dressed to mosh to their favorite screamo band? Maybe not.
+ Was totally shocked that Ashley picked J.P. over Ben last week on The Bachelorette. JP had been my boy from the beginning (heck I even singled him out as a contender before the season on Knox’s blog), but it really seemed like she had a better connection with Ben. Kudos to the editing department for tricking me once again, and best of luck to those two. The odds are against them.
+ I got a rebate check in the mail this week. Love when that happens because you know they offer those mail-in rebates thinking no one is going to go through the hassle of filling them out and sending them in on time. I always do. Take THAT, corporate America.
+ Prepare yourself for a whole lot of people tweeting and talking about Jay-Z and Kanye’s Watch The Throne, which comes out this week. You gonna pick it up? Listened to anything else new recently?
