Astros (2-3) at Kings (0-5), Monday 5/21, 7:00pm, Strasburg
This was a back and forth clash between a team desperate for a winning record (us) and a team desperate for a win (them). We pulled away in the last few innings and our defense held up for us. I came in to pitch the last 3 innings and i think i only gave up 1 run.
Highlight of the game for me was walking a batter in the last inning (we were up 14-8 at that point). as he walked down to first he was shouting about how i sucked and how i can’t throw strikes and they need to be patient. ok. game on. next batter i threw a strike and then glared over to first base. the runner wasnt looking, but my 1B Doug picked up on the fact that i wasn’t happy about the chatter. Next pitch, strike two. I glare over again. This time Doug says “there’s two strikes” to mr. mouth. he says “lucky”. next pitch i bring some heat and the guy strikes out. one last glare over to first. Doug says “wow! 3 pitches”. Runner says “he still sucks”. Doug reiterates “only 3 pitches, wow”. I was amused. There’s no need to talk that type of trash, especially down by 7 runs.
Final Score: Astros 14, Kings 8
Astros (3-3) at Living Hope (3-3), Monday 5/21, 8:30pm, Strasburg
This was a back and forth clash between a team desperate for a winning record (us) and a team desperate for a win (they had lost 3 in a row). We broke things open in the fifth inning scoring 4 times to jump to a 13-9 lead and scored 4 more times in the sixth, to take control of the game.
I made a pretty good diving catch out in CF in the first inning of this one. Didn’t think i was going to get to the ball. That’s probably why my body feels like i got hit by a mack truck.
Final Score: Astros 17, Living Hope 10
I can’t remember the last time we swept a doubleheader. It was alot of fun. We’re playing really well right now offensively and with the gloves. We have 2 and a half weeks off now, and then come back with some big games.
Next Up – another big Doubleheader: Indians (7-0) at Astros (4-3) & Astros (4-3) at CMBC (3-4), Thursday June 7th, 7pm & 830pm, Willow Street
