I’ve always thought “The Bachelor” on ABC was a terribly cruel show. (same goes for The Bachelorette). Sure, 1 girl ends up engaged to the man of her dreams. But what about the other 24? Some of them never get a chance to connect with the Bachelor and are booted at the beginning. Others are dumped only after they’ve fallen in love. I’m not saying it doesn’t make for great TV, I just think it’s a brutally cruel show. So much so that I wrote an article about it over at Suite101. To find out how i worked polygamy and vomit into the article, click here.

Many of you know that I am writing a book. In fact, all of you reading this know, because I just told you.

What you may not know is that I am taking a break from writing the book for a few months. This is a calculated move that my agent and I agreed on because we are wily and crafty. Also because I need to get a bigger readership.

Phase I of the plan was to increase readership at Prayers For Blowouts, which has been happening since I’ve added 6 new writers to the site. So far, so good.

Phase II was for me to give my personal homepage a face-lift. Most of you have probably never actually been there, but it was time for a change.

I’m happy to say that this afternoon I finished the redesign and it’s now live. The sections on my writing, speaking, and well, basically everything have been updated. The picture on the front page is from a few months ago.

(I’m actually about 10 pounds heavier in that picture than I am now, but oh well. What’s 10 pounds when you have the Brooklyn Bridge as your backdrop?)

Check it out if you have a second while I move on to Phase III. (and by “move on to Phase III” I mean “figure out what Phase III is”)

ps…if you see any typos or bad links, let me know.

+ my mom and sisters are visiting for a few days, so that’s fun.

+ my softball team is 6-5 with a big game tonight against 6-6 Calvary Monument.

+ I’ve got a quick article on enjoying your fantasy football draft up at Suite 101.

+ new Coldplay album is as good as expected in my book. Standout tracks so far are “Lovers in Japan”, “Death and all his friends”, and “Lost!”. According to Chris Martin, their tour dates will feature magical balls. They’ve also announced that Santogold will be opening for them. Not super excited about that…but whatever.

+ we’re about 2 weeks away from Parker’s maiden voyage to Fenway.  With Big Papi likely to be on the sideline, I really hope Manny plays when we’re there. Can’t wait to see the look on Parker’s face when he sees the Green Monstah for the first time.
