a few quick hits for your wednesday morning…
+ My friend Jason Boyett recently posted the 14 reasons he’s voting for Obama on his blog. Here’s Part 1 and here’s Part 2. I have friends that I respect on both sides of the political debate right now, which I find fascinating. Jason’s a pretty smart guy, a Christian, and an author of fine books…if you’re in the “How could a pro-life person vote for Obama” camp, check out his thoughts and feel free to disagree.
+ Geof set me straight in the comments of my last post. TiVo and DirecTV are playing nice again. Very cool. Can I wait until late 2009 for them to unveil a new HD DVR? I think so. Though my guess is it will get delayed a bit. Still, this is good news. I’ve gotten used to DirecTV’s DVRs, but compared to the ease and smoothness of a TiVo, it’s not even close. (Speaking of Geof, He’s another Christian who’s voting for Obama…you can read some of his thoughts here and here if you like.)
+ If you or someone you know watches Jon & Kate Plus 8, you might have seen this week’s new episode where Jon and Kate take the kids to visit the Sight & Sound Theater in Strasburg, PA. The theater is about 10 minutes from our house, and is owner by one of Erica’s best friend’s parents, The Eshelmans. Erica’s friend Kristen, the blond haired girl in the episode that escorts the family through the theater, was in our wedding. So basically what I’m trying to say is I am famous.
+ One last thought about blogging. If you don’t have a blog, but you’re thinking about starting one…go for it. Will anyone read it? Yes. I’ll read it. So that’s one person. Will you have enough to write about? Yes, there’s always something to write about. Will you have the time to do it consistently? Probably not. But you make time for the things that are important to you. Many people are intimidated to blog because they feel like their opinion is not important enough. To you, I say, “listen. your opinion is extremely important. just as important as anyone else’s. So give it a shot. Start a blog. Maybe nothing will come of it. But maybe it will be a lot of fun. Maybe you’ll discover some things about yourself that you didn’t know before. You’ll never know until you give it a shot.”

I see your “a friend who was in our wedding escorted John and Kate +8 10 minutes from my house” and raise you ” I have been to Roloff Farms (Little People, Big World) on several occasions. TLC THROWDOWN!
I see your TLC connections and raise you a History Channel appearance. I once gave a mediocre portrayal of a “biblical expert” named “Jason Boyett.”
It was a stretch, but they invited me back.
So do I win?
No Jason, I win, because this contest is like the Price is Right. Closest to Famous without going over. You are famous, so you are DQed. I win. And remember to have your cats and dogs spayed and neutered.
I’m sorry to admit that, on more than one occasion, I’ve laid claim to being a friend of a friend of Mr. Derek Webb. But don’t think I need you, Bryan. My real claim to fame is being related to Sebastian Kresge, founder of Kmart. Go have dinner with Auntie Anne — I’ll take a blue light special any day of the week.
hey, 2 degrees of separation from Derek Webb is a noble thing. Greater men have died for such a cause. actually, i dont even know what that means…but every time I drive by KMart, I feel deep sorrow in my heart. Just seems like such a lonely place now that Target and Walmart exist. If it ever does pass on, I will pass along my condolences.
If there is a claim to fame competition, I am fairly certain I am in last place. However, I had a podcast on iTunes! Does that count? Oh wait! One of my best friends once dated Danny Bonaduce’s cousin. Does that one count?
BTW, I <3 Jon & Kate plus 8. Is this weird for a dude?
