+ my fantasy football teams (all 4 of them) went 4-0 this week. that will probably be the last time that happens…

+ finally got my watch fixed after over a year of not wearing it. i’m kinda liking having one on again.

+ dunkin donuts coffee…wonderful…

+ so i get to work and my pants have a big pen mark on them and my shirt has a mysterious yellow stain on it. nice. i think i’ll hide out in my cube all day.

+ finally got my Martin D35 (guitar) back from the guitar-fixer-dude in Nashville and it sounds amazing. apparently there were more problems with it than i thought. the back and sides were coming apart, the braces were all starting to break, the neck was coming off the body, and the bridge needed to be secured. it cost me $450 to get it fixed, but it’s a $1500-$2000 guitar, so it’s worth it in the long run.

+ golfing on friday in a benefit tournament, so i’m excited for that. i shot a 95 the last time i went out, which, while sucky, is still my best this year. friday will be a scramble, so it should be fun.

+ i’m halfway through book 4 of Potter (goblet of fire). Cliff was making fun of me on sunday because i’ve been reading it forever, but the book is 700 freaking pages long. who has time to read that much? i’m enjoying it, but not moving very fast.

+ i ran 12 miles last week (2, 6, and 4 mile runs) which was the most i’ve ever done. i’m trying to watch what i eat and exercise regularly for the next 2 months or so in hopes of being in the best shape i’ve ever been in by halloween. why halloween? no reason, really. it just seemed like a good endpoint. if you’re looking to shed a few pounds or start on some good habits, why don’t you join me? there’s about 8 weeks until the end of October, so the commitment is tolerable.

+ going to NYC for a night next weekend. should be a lot of fun to hang with Matt and Renee again. gonna eat at a place called Buddakan in the Meat Packing District. you need reservations 30 days in advance. that’s how we roll.

Note: The Schnoz Report for Week 1 has been posted.

The way it’s worked out for me lately, I haven’t had a 2-day weekend in quite some time. I was kind of getting used to being at home for 3 days in a row. But alas, this weekend will only be two days long. That’s not to say I still won’t enjoy it though.

Today I’ll be skipping out of work a little early since I was here until 1am last night. Erica’s Aunt Linda is coming over for dinner and to play some Settlers of Catan, which we have recently got her addicted to. Perhaps after she has left and the kids are in bed, Erica and I will catch a movie together…I really want to see Blades of Glory. ANyone have any good movie recommendations for rentals?

On saturday we are watching Jake and Kim’s two girls, so it will be a busy day. Kylie has her first soccer game in the morning and a birthday party in the afternoon, so we’ll be running around a bit.

On Sunday we are headed to Trappe, PA to catch an afternoon Caedmon’s Call show. I’m bringing along the whole fam, so the band can meet my kids and vice versa. It will be good to see them again after hanging out in Texas for a few days last month. It’s an outdoor show, and it’s supposed to storm, so we’ll see how that works out.

On monday it’s back to work. yeehaw!

+ I’m going to be filing some NFL Reports every week over at the Burnside Writers Blog. My plan is to provide an informed/comical/unorthodox look at each upcoming week of the pro football season. (Hopefully editor Jordan Green is ok with this since i never ran it by him). The Week 1 post will go up on Friday, but today i posted a pre-season report looking ahead to the 2007 season. There you can read about my fantasy team names (all 4 of them) and about my weekly bet with Erica. I’m calling the weekly feature “The Schnoz Report”, and here’s the graphic:

+ if you’re not interested enough to check out my predictions for the year, I’m taking the Patriots over the Saints in the Super Bowl. A boring selection, i know, but it’s what i landed on. I also like the Eagles, Rams, Bears, Cowboys, and Falcons to make the playoffs in the NFC and the Chargers, Colts, Steelers, Ravens, and Bengals to make it in the AFC.

+ Did you hear that Apple is giving $100 store credit back to early adopters who paid $599 for their 8GB iPhone before this week’s $200 price drop? It’s a good move by Steve Jobs, and one that i was thinking he should do about 24 hours before he announced it. Had i blogged about it, i would have looked smart, since i was thinking the exact same thing: $100 store credit. It’s a smart move because most of those folks will use that credit to buy something worth more than $100 and end up putting more money into Apple’s pockets. I’m guessing Steve planned this all along, and i think it’s brilliant that he didnt announce it yesterday. If he had, it would have come across as “nice, but still sucky that i paid way more for my iPhone”. But letting customers stew for 24 hours and then announcing the $100 credit? now it comes across as “Steve Jobs is giving me $100 back just when i started getting used to the fact that i paid more for my iPhone…this is awesome!” I bet Seth Godin would agree that the timing was perfect on this one.
