  • four games left in our softball season. we’ve got about a 2% chance of making the playoffs. we’re finally playing better…if only the season was 30 games instead of 18.
  • i got a new wallet yesterday. a front pocket wallet. it’s a new day for me and frankly, i couldnt be happier.
  • why is it that on the day you finally get a phone call you’ve been waiting for, your battery is almost dead. argh.
  • kylie turns 5 this weekend. wow. i will now pretend like i am not freaked out by this.
  • floyd landis is innocent. i will believe that until the day i die. or until his second test comes back positive.
  • derek webb is selling some gear on ebay if you’re interested. i think there’s a strat and a keyboard up there.
  • i’m golfing on monday and going to the beach on tuesday. if you think i’m excited, you’re not an idiot.
  • heaven on earth is the perfect ear of corn smothered in butter and salt on a summer evening.
  • hell on earth is being cut up with a dull screwdriver and boiled alive in hamster urine.
  • if i was a professional walker for a living i think i would be skinnier
  • The evil doctor Will is exceeding every expectation on Big Brother 7 this season. just a joy to watch.
  • do you think the guy who invented the abacus ever saw the calculator coming?
  • speaking of inventions, the guy who created the paperclip was a genius. he basically took a useless piece of wire, bent it 3 times, and changed the world.
  • now that we have online dating and online banking, i think it’s only a matter of time before we have online eating. not sure how this will work, but i’m certainly not going to bet against it.
  • do birds know that we can’t fly, or do they just think we’re scared to try?
  • i think they should offer sporting events on TV that feature only the ambient sounds from the venue. no announcers. a few cameras micing crowd noise and on-field action. wouldn’t you check it out if you had the option?
  • when it’s all said and done i think will ferrell falls somewhere in between chevy chase and bill murray in the court of public opinion. for me right now, there’s none better.
  • the biggest farce ever perpetrated on the american public: the 5-day work week. i think we should all work 9 hour days 4 days a week. it will be a 36-hour work week instead of 40, and we’ll get more work done because we’ll have 3-day weekends year round. frankly, it’s brilliant. perhaps i should start an online petition. or maybe i’m just a doofus…

there’s really not a lot going on right now it seems. this week has been a great week, though. having erica back has been awesome. her pictures and stories from guatemala were pretty cool too. thanks to everyone who gave. i’m trying to push her to share some of them in a blog or something.

so yeah, back to the boring week that was-slash-is. we went to home depot today and got a new light and hanging plant for our deck. erica and i talked about my 30th bday and how i don’t want a party for it. i’m glad she asked because her silence on the whole thing was getting me worried. seriously, parties are great and all, but i really don’t need one. not sure what she’s getting me yet. either she’ll go out on her own and try to surprise me or we’ll talk about a trip somewhere or a new shiny thing as a gift. which reminds me, only about 2 months left of my twenties.

i’m about to eat a frozen strawberry charlestown chew. and yes, it might be the highlight of my day.

watched “Firewall” with Harrison Ford last night. well, harrison wasnt there. but he was starring in the movie. Nothing special, really. i might have been disappointed had i spent $9.50 to sit in a theater to see it. but cuddled up with erica in our basement, having just eaten some sushi together, made it an awesome night. it was just watching a dumb movie, but being with the one you love the most makes it a special event. knowing that there truly is nowhere else on earth you’d rather be at that exact time, realizing how corny it is, but knowing that it is 100% true…it is just an amazing thing. i never want to take a night with Erica for granted, because i’m not promised one more.

so yeah, erica’s working tonight. i think i’ll try to call D-Webb and connect with him as we’ve been playing phone tag since wednesday. i need to call Osenga too. and i need to eat my charlestown chew. think i’ll do that now.

I couldn’t be more excited to get Erica tonight. It’s a midnight pickup in Philly. 1 week is a long time to go without your best friend when you spend every single day with them. 7 hours and change…

listening to the Catalyst Podcast right now. Rob Bell has some pretty interesting things to say. the one quote i really liked was this “If a church was removed from its community, how many people who aren’t a part of the church would be grieved?” good food for thought, eh? As he puts it, “Jesus calls us to be a compelling force for good”. I’d add some thoughts but i’m still digesting it all.

I finished the Godfather II last night. Not sure if/when I’ll see Part III. I enjoyed both pasrt I and II. I think i liked the first one better, though the flashbacks to young Vito in II were intriguing. very LOST-esque.

looks like MuteMath is definitely not going to be at Purple Door. Their Tour Dates page shows them in the UK that weekend now. I’ve also heard that LoveDrug won’t be there, but their Myspace page still shows them as playing on Friday night.

I’m definitely enjoying Big Brother this season. I’ll have some more thoughts on it in a week or two. I need to let Erica catch up first.

President Bush said the ’s’ word. tsk tsk.

word to your moms…bry

  • picking up erica at the aeropuerto in 46 hours…not that I’m counting or anything
  • jordan and i watched The Godfather for the first time tonight. long, but enjoyable. tomorrow we tackle part II.
  • hot weather is headed our way. rumors that we’ll hit 100 on monday or tuesday. this is about the time i start daydreaming about crisp autumn breezes.
  • hit a homer and a triple and went 4-8 over a doubleheader on friday night. i lined out to the shortstop with 2 on and 2 out down 2 runs to end the first game, but we won the second to manage a split.
  • we mulched around the deck yesterday and it looks great. i also golfed yesterday and played so-so. in a related story, i am sore.
  • beat up on Erica’s aunts in Quiddler today. it was a nice change of pace from beating them up in Scrabble like i usually do. haha, they would laugh if they knew i blogged about my exploits.
  • i’m digging the new Keane CD, only been through it 1.5 times so far.
  • time for bed. actually, past time for bed…
