I'd have to say this was the most moving thing I've ever seen in my life. So authentic and sincere. This is not exploitation. They told an emotional story and it just happen to be in front of thousands of people. Was it intended to enlist more Compassion sponsors. Yeah. So what. You could exploit the heck out of my life if it meant rescuing kids from poverty.

@Chris Hubbs
I have a feeling that if you asked the man how he felt about it, he'd be okay with it, because I'm willing to bet that a lot of people saw sponsorship differently when they were able to see first-hand how it changes lives. And if breaking down in front of 13,000 people (and then those online) means more children get sponsored then I'm thinking he wouldn't let his pride get in the way.

My friends who went to Catalyst were telling me about this and were getting emotional just talking about it. So it's great to be able to see the video--thanks for posting it!

I'm torn between being incredibly moved by the story and incredibly disgusted by the way they exploited this dear African brother by setting it up, scripting it, as the host noted, so that thousands of people could watch him break down on stage. And then try to interview the sponsor while the guy is just a wreck.

Incredible. Thank you for posting this. On the down side, I'm now crying at my desk at work. But on the plus side, I will not go to bed tonight until I send my Compassion child a letter. Thank you.
