We’re taking a mini family vacation over the next couple days so my blog is going to go dark until Monday. Seems like the perfect time to give away free gift cards to the store of your choosing.

Here’s the deal: I’m need to know you who are and what you like (if anything) about my blog. I’m going to open this up for folks to comment until midnight on Sunday night EST, and on Monday I will randomly choose 3 winners to receive a gift card to the store of your choosing. (The gift cards will be for $20, $15, and $15 and will be for any place that i can actually get you a gift card at – Amazon, Home Depot, Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, and so on)

What do you need to do to be eligible? Just leave a comment to this post answering the following questions:

1. Where do you live? (city, state or just state)

2. What’s your favorite feature of the things I do on this site?

3. Other than your answer to #2, is there something you’d like to see more of? (could be something I’ve never done before)

That’s it. Please only answer once, and please be honest. If there’s nothing you like about the site, then let me know.

And in case you need a refresher on some of the different things I do here, here’s a reminder:

Thanks so much to all of you who read the site. I’m really excited to see what exactly it is that you like most about it. So please, even if you’ve never commented before, this would be a great time to break the ice. You’re input is really valuable to me. (and if you’re a new reader, feel free to check out those links to see what type of stuff I do here.)

If you’re reading this in a feed reader, click this link and leave your 3 answers in the comments section.

If you’re reading this on a magic invisible computer, that’s pretty rad.

Thanks again everyone, see you on Monday with the winners!

  1. David Carrel says:

    1. My name is David Carrel and I live in Porto Alegre, Brazil, currently; when I started reading I lived in Chattanooga, TN (and was born in MI).

    2. I like the ramblings, book reviews, confession booth, and spiritual posts. The ramblings are hilarious and I really like it when you talk about weird things that you do, or that we all do. Very funny stuff, I only wish I were that creative. The Amish pictures are funny as well. I am not a fan of the Lost posts, mainly cause I don’t watch Lost and never got into it. But it is not a big deal, cause I just don’t read them.

    3. I like your sport’s writing as well, although I know that you mainly put those on Prayers for Blowouts, which I read as well. Maybe you could do some controversial books, articles, whatever posts, where current theological, political issues are brought to the table and put a funny twist on them, or keep them serious. (But maybe that is not where you want to go with this blog at all). Maybe some more funny things that happen at the house, or funny quotes from your kids. I think that you have included those every once in a while. And then maybe a post on the seriousness of softball.

In summary, keep it up. You write some funny stuff and I am sure that it will continue to be used for God’s glory.

  2. Hi. I’m Janelle, I live in Strasburg, PA.

I like to read your stuff because it’s honest and funny. I especially like the Amish stuff because I too am surrounded and at times astounded by them! I also like your family updates because your family is way cool and because it feels like just yesterday your wife and I were playing together with our Barbie dolls!

I agree with David, more quotes from the kids, that’s the really funny stuff.

Better go, I think I’m in labor….no joke!

  3. Kristy B. in WV says:

Hi! I’m Kristy, and I live in WV.

I love the ramblings, Cannarf reviews, and Living with the Amish posts. But then again, I also love the spiritual things and the family updates. Okay, so I pretty much enjoy whatever I see here…

I would love to see more pics of you/your family/your friends/random strangers wearing Red Sox gear, or discussing Red Sox topics. Kidding…but I love that we have that in common! I agree with the above, too…funny commentary on current events is always enjoyable.

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to share!! Enjoy your vacation! :)

  5. Jen says:

Hi, I’m Jen, and I live in sunny Jacksonville, FL.

I like the cannarf reviews- it’s always good to know whether a book or movie is worth my time. And I’ve found that more often that not I agree with you.

I also like Ramblings, and Living with the Amish, and Confession Booth…

Let me be real, the only thing I DON’T like is the Lost posts, and that’s only because I don’t watch Lost (Scandal! I know.) But I’m fine with just skipping over those in my feed reader since I enjoy everything else.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  8. Mary says:

Hi Bryan, my name is Mary and I live in Lancaster, PA.

I stumbled across your page while cruisin’ through another blog one day and i’m glad I did.

You do a great job here, and you keep me entertained when I need a mental break from my work. I really enjoy your humor and honesty. The ramblings, the video posts, cannarf book reviews, the weblinks…they’re all great! In fact, I have coworkers in LA and Chicago who got the biggest kick out of an amish post I shared with them. They’re fascinated by this! I find it more humorous imagining you trying to inconspicuously capture these pics. The one of the Amish guy using the voting booth comes to mind…haha! Anyway, I’m a non-watcher of Lost so I’m out of the loop on those posts, but it’s cool. I like your blog.

    enjoy your mini-vacation!

  9. Matt Ralph says:

    1. I live in Louisville, Ky.

    2. I like the random web stuff the most and in general your overall creative approach to life, faith and culture. The Living with the Amish pictures always make me laugh and remind me of the four years I spent living in Central Pa. I too skip reading the LOST posts because I don’t watch the show and I’m slightly frightened by the word Cannarf.

    3. Can’t think of anything right now.

  10. Tim McGeary says:

    1.) Tim from Bethlehem, PA
2.) I like your ramblings, cannarf reviews (both books and movies), humorous and satirical takes on spiritual/theological commentrary from others, and especially the Amish posts.
3.) Keep up the good job you are doing. But I’m definitely interesting in the speaking and writing opportunities you are getting.

  11. Ben Wiggins says:

1.) Ben Wiggins from Titusville, FL

2.) my favorite things are the ramblings and the living with the amish

3.) can’t really think of anything I want to see more of

  12. 1. You know me. I live in your head. Well, if your head was Madison, AL.

    2. I love the stuff with the Amish. Otherwise, I love reading everything in your voice inside my head. I even leave comments in your voice, which is really kinda creepy, because it’s me talking and not you. Yar.

    3. I would love to see you linkblog, actually.

  13. Christine says:

Hi, It’s Christine. Your old babysitter in MA

I have no clue why I read blogs. Does anyone? Maybe for the same reason I read People magazine. I have no clue what your LOST posts mean. I have watched every episode and do not catch half of the things you do. I loved watching your wife swallow apple cider vinegar. Go Erica! I think of similar ramblings myself all the time and never remember them to write them down as I am so busy so I appreciate that you can do this for me.

Keep the family updates coming. I love those the most. You are blessed…

  14. Sarah says:

    Hi!
I’m Sarah and I live in Richmond, VA.

Gotta vote for Ramblings….love love love them. Absolutely makes me laugh out loud (so I can’t read them in my classroom at school – the kids look at me funny when I start laughing at my computer)

My one wish – for you and everyone else I know? That you loved the Tarheels as much as I do. It makes me sad that you’re a sports guy but not a college basketball fan….but I guess no one’s perfect, right? :) (I’ve only left a comment a few times, but my goal is to mention that Tarheels every time. I’m convinced that’s the way to recruit new fans. Is that crazy?)

I love reading about your family, too. Really I enjoy it all. Keep up the great work!

  15. Melissa Duclos says:

    1. Melissa Duclos from MA

    2. I like the ramblings and the Amish posts. They both make me laugh.

    3. Just keep doing more of the same, I guess. I can’t think of anything else.

  16. David Eaton says:

    1. Rehoboth MA

    2. Ramblings

    3. want to see more videos of you drinking apple cider…. mmm it is delicious
