In the past 10 years I’ve done some pretty cool things with Caedmon’s Call.

In April 2004 I went along on a trip to Ecuador.

In August 2007 I spent 4 days in Texas with the band for the release of Overdressed (btw, I liveblogged the whole thing at Caedmonscall.net. Click here and you can read all 50 entries in reverse chronological order.)

in fact, here’s one of my favorite videos from the Overdressed Release Week trip, from the Rivers Ranch in North Texas:

People sometimes ask me how it ended up that I was afforded these opportunities. I always tell them I was the right fan to come along with the right ideas at the right time. And I had some good help from Megan, Nicole, Geof, and a bunch of other folks as well.

Of course, it also helped that I was a psycho fanboy of the band for quite awhile. In fact, I was going through an old cigar box recently and found a bunch of CC ticket stubs from the past decade.

Six ticket stubs in six different states. I’ve probably seen them in concert 25-30 times in 6 or 7 different states. So if you’d like to travel with your favorite band and get to know them better, my first piece of advice is to start stalking them. At some point, they won’t be able to ignore you any more.

Which got me thinking, what band/musician have you seen live more than any other? Are they you’re favorite, or just the one you’ve seen the most?

Yeah, I’m totally on that plan. I’ve driven all over the midwest any time Andy Osenga is playing. Nebraska 4 or 5 times, here in Iowa twice, in Illinois at least twice, Nashville once… still not enough, though. My dream is that one of these days he’s gonna have a hot album release tour and invite me along to cyber-document it all.

A guy can dream, can’t he? *sigh*

hey man, no one is going to dream those dreams for you. So yes, go ahead and dream.

As funny as it is, i’ve probably seen CC more than any other band if for no other reason than just being friends with you. Think i’ve seen them in Boston, lots of places in PA, maybe D.C. I forget where else. Maybe upwards of 10 times if you count festivals.

I was an admissions counselor for a school that sponsored Winter Jam which had Toby Mac, Newsong, Hawk Nelson, Newsboys and a few others. I stood at our booth and we got to kind of travel with the bands. I got to go to 6-7 concerts. I think that Toby is probably the best performer in Christian music. I definitely am not a rap fan, except for his stuff, just cause of those concerts.

Caedmon’s, hands down. Probably about 6 or 7 times total, including an 8-hr road trip to Ackron, and a 7 hour trip to St. Louis. I’m kind of sick, but have met some fun people along the way.

  6. Over The Rhine. I started listening to OTR in college (1994ish?). Then I moved to Philadelphia (long story short: my roommate was good friends with the band! crazy!). I’ve seen OTR perform in all manner of venues and I like them best in the smaller, intimate settings. If I had to guess I’d say I’ve seen them LIVE about a dozen times. (Which isn’t bad considering they come around less than once a year!)

  7. Derek, without a doubt, Bry. I’ve probably seen him solo 25 times already. Maybe more. [And slept on his couch.]

  8. Rick Fonseca says:

That’s really cool Brian. You’ve always been a fun and cool dude to hang with. I spent much of my youth at hardcore shows. Seen the band Hatebreed over 20 times all over mass and rhode island. Hundreds of concerts in total of many bands. I haven’t heard of this band. I’ll have to check them out. Hope my pick of most watched band is not offensive to your christian crew. peace

  9. Bryan Allain says:

Well, if hardcore is your thing, you probably won’t enjoy Caedmons. But nothing offensive about loving you some Hatebreed. Music is art and we all have different tastes. I’d be more offended if you lied about your favorite band to try and not be offensive.
