No meat.
No dairy.
No crackers.
No bread.
No sugar.
No coffee.
No beer.
NO CHEESE.
That’s been life for Erica and I for the past 3 weeks as we’ve participated in a Daniel Fast with a lot of other folks from our church to start off the New Year.
So happy I did it.
And so happy it’s almost over.
I miss you, cheese. See you tomorrow…
Love, Bryan
PS…when was the last time you fasted? what type of fast was it? curious to know…

i think it was when i fasted fast food for forty days. wow, alliteration. anyways, it was pretty easy, and i felt less sluggish. i don’t remember why i did it, or what i got out of it, other than fast food makes you feel lazy.
I fasted from food altogether for a 24-hour period last week. I try to do it the middle of every week but I often forget and eat breakfast on Wednesday morning before I’ve actually fully woken up. I find it an extremely beneficial and deeply spiritual time because I spend my lunch break reading in silence, reading scripture and praying.
I smell a Taco Bell trip in Bryan’s Sunday. [And a stale fart.]
yeah, jordan i think i remember you fasting the fast food. man, i could knock down some of that right now.
@Matt I think doing a 24-hr fast once a week might be harder than the Daniel Fast. doing this for 3 weeks, your body gets used to smaller portions and nute, fruits, and veggies. skipping all food for 1 day would be tough.
@geof – taco bell does sound enticing. I think i’m having me some pizza for lunch, and then maybe sushi for dinner.
I mean, Bry, you could’ve made a 3am Taco Bell run for five cheese roll-ups. And then a 4:45am run for the after effects!
i did it once for 21 days, well, I made it 19…i think I plan on fasting fasts.
Oh man! Lisa and I did a Daniel Fast back in August that I wrote about here. It was a lot more challenging that I had thought it would be but it also helped establish a food discipline that I hadn’t had before that. We both were glad to get off of it but I think it’s a good thing to do. Lisa and I even talked about doing a 10 or 21 day once a year.
@brewster i think it says in 2 Opinions 4:12 that there is nothing holier than fasting fasts.
@brad that’s cool to read that you guys did that just 6 months ago. Has there been any diet changes from the fast that have actually tuck with you, or did your eating habits eventually return to form? I lost almost 10 pounds doing the fast, so I think I’d like to keep parts of it going…but yeah, coffee this morning was AMAZING.
