The thing I love to hate the most is that in the view of most Lancaster County residents, 10 years is *not* a long time to have lived here. You're not a true "Lancastrian" unless you're fourth generation or something.

I've never heard the "when's it over till?" but I'm happy I've missed it. I learned recently that "all" is a shortening of a German word that means "empty" or "used up"--it's just a coincidence that there's an English phrase "all gone." It made me a little more tolerant to know there's a reason.

Along with "are you coming with?" is the awful construction "I've never been." Our fellow countians, bless their hearts, just can't get their heads around this "to be" verb.

Thanks for the laugh... I'm glad to know I'm not alone.

You have not acquiesced to your locale's colloquialisms, and for that, Mr. Allain, you are a better man than I am. After all, I have definitely incorporated a number of folksy Southernisms into my vernacular.
