Speaking of Barack Obama:

Barack Obama is a racial-minority individual, and in his heart and mind he inevitably does not endorse hate crimes committed by George W. Bush.

George W. Bush committed hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism (indicated in my blog).

George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes.

And I do solemnly swear by Almighty God that George W. Bush committed other hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism which I am not at liberty to mention.

Many people know what Bush did.

And many people will know what Bush did—even to the end of the world.

Bush was absolute evil.

Bush is now like a fugitive from justice.

Bush is a psychological prisoner.

Bush has a lot to worry about.

Bush can technically be prosecuted for hate crimes at any time.

In any case, Bush will go down in history in infamy.

I am not sure where I had read it before, but anyway, it is a linguistically excellent statement, and it goes kind of like this: “If only it were possible to ban invention that bottled up memories so they never got stale and faded.” Oh wait—off the top of my head—I think the quotation came from my Lower Merion High School yearbook.

Tolerance does not mean acceptance of others' faith. I tolerate Islam, Judaism, and Calvinism, but that doesn't mean that I find their soteriology to be correct. [And if you think I was poking the bear with you, Bry, I was. But you know me and my Wesleyan background. ;) How the heck did I ever get vetted to be on CC.net staff?]

I am not picking apart his soul. I am simply using critical thinking to wade through the topic addressed. The book speaks of his spirituality. I was on topic ;}

P.S. I am definitely riled up at the biased media!

can you be a Christian and deny the existence of heaven and hell? i dont see how that would work. because if there is no life for your soul after death, then what, exactly, is Jesus' sinless life and sacrificial death saving you from?

BUT

can you be a Christian and have doubts about whether there is a heaven or a hell? I sure hope so. Because I do. I have faith that there is a heaven. Some days it is very easy to believe it. Other days it feel harder. But I do believe.

As for Obama saying he wasn't sure...I don't know if that's him expressing doubts about something he has faith in...or him denying the existence of the afterlife. To me there's a difference.

but again, i don't see the point of picking apart the state of Obama's soul. Or McCain's soul for that matter. These men's policies are where the rubber meets the road. It's where their worldview and beliefs become reality. And that's what's going to affect our country for the next 4 years, in my opinion.

(and as for your "tolerance is for liberals" statement, it's exactly the kind of crappy generalized rhetoric that I've been trying to avoid. it's just so divisive. Maybe you put that in there to rile me up :), or maybe you put that in there because you're riled up...i dont know.)

thanks everyone for pushing me to really think about what i believe and where i stand on things...its a work in progress.

Why is it that we cannot use judgement anymore? It annoys me. Obama has had every opportunity to stand up for Christ, and chosen to pander. He was asked about life after death and he said he was not sure if there was such a thing. One of the tenants of the Christian faith is that every man has an appointment with death. At that point they will take up residence in their new home, heaven or hell. I am judging his words based on God's Word. Can you be a Christian and not believe in life after death? No.

Thanks for the comments Sheri,

I agree it would be surreal to see a book on the shelf about my spiritual life. Not sure I'd be down with that. But like I said, Mansfield did a pretty good job with some tough material.

Thanks for sharing your review of the book. I like your objective questions/answers and leaving us to decide if we want to read it or not. I might have to check into it a bit.

God is the only one who knows a man's heart, so we all can make guesses, read or write books about someone's faith, but it comes down to an individual relationship with Jesus Christ. So, as the Good Book says, "Who are we to judge..." right??

How crazy would it be to see a book on the shelves of a book store that's written about you and your faith in God? Wow, that's crazy, huh.

Thanks for the post.
