On saturday my kids were watching the previews to some Disney movie. I was in the other room trying to write about people who brush their teeth in the bathroom at work (more on this at a later date).
I was doing a good job of blocking out the movie, but then I heard this one line: “…a hero will arise from the unlikeliest of places…” Hm. That got me thinking.
What are the most unlikely places a hero could arise from?
Here’s the best I could come up with…
[+] From underneath the Titanic – If you’ve been trapped under the Titanic for 97 years you’re probably stuck there for the rest of eternity.
[+] From behind the TV – Whether your TV is flush against a flat wall or sitting diagonally in a corner, the space behind it is the most neglected in all of the house. Take a peak back there tonight and tell me what you see. A tangled mess of black wires, a deflated balloon, a copy of Bicentennial Man starring Robin Williams, a graham cracker, and a periwinkle barbie shoe. Definitely no hero back there.
[+] From between the foil wrapper and the paper wrapper of a Reese’s peanut butter cup – I’m not even sure you can fit air in there, never mind a hero.
[+] From my eyebrows – I don’t think I need to explain this one. There’s just no chance that a hero is going to arise from my eyebrows.
[+] From Harvey, North Dakota – when your most notable resident of all-time is the co-founder of the company who makes graphing calculators and your population is under 2000 people, the writing is on the wall. No heroes rising from Harvey. Heck, I’m tempted to extend that to the entirety of Wells County, but since I’ve probably got a few readers up there I won’t. I’m not one for kicking people when they’re down.
Feel free to pitch in if you’ve got one.
And if you’re a hero, let us know where you’ve arisen from.
